Infrared

Photography beyond the visible light spectrum: The camera is capable of view things our eyes cannot though the use of barrier filters or alternative light sources. I often experiment with these techniques. This image was captured using an R72 Infrared barrier filter to exclude most of the visible light spectrum at 720 nanometers. Most all DSLR cameras have filtering on the imaging sensor that blocks Infrared light. As a result the exposure can be quite long even in the brightest of sun light.

This coal gas plant went into operation in 1906 as part of the Seattle Gas Light Company. Now as a monument to urban decay, it is surrounded by a beautiful park at the waters edge in Seattle Washington.
